Rosemary essential oil

                                                                                          Rosmarinus officinalis

Rosemary is one of the most famous Provence's aromatic plants. It is a nice perennial schrub that grows up to 1 meter, with erected branches and dark-green, needle-shaped leaves. They emit a powerful, bracing, very aromatic smell when crushed. It is native to the northern Mediterranean Basin, along with some areas in north Africa. The flowering branches are harvested in the wild and then left to dry in the shade for one or two days prior to distillation.

Slow extraction of the oil is done by traditional process, through steam, in dedicated equipment. The essential oil exudes a potent, medicinal, camphoraceous fragrance with herbaceous and green notes. Main components are Cineol-1.8, α Pinene, Camphor and Camphene.

Rosemary essential oil is widely used in cosmetics, perfumes, flavours and aromatherapy for its ability to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, protect the immune system, stimulate circulation, detoxify the body, protect the body from bacterial infections, prevent premature aging, and heal skin conditions.

Active components in Rosemary essential oil (rosmarinic acid, caffeic acid, betulic acid, carnosol, etc) have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic benefits.

In Skin Care this oil is mainly used in face creams for its anti-ageing properties. It contains a wide array of nutrients such as iron, calcium, vitamins and antioxidants. Thus, this oil is effective for all skin types and is also used in cleansers, soaps, face masks, toners and treatment for acne. It has been shown to improve the youthful quality of the skin, while also healing blemishes and increasing the natural shine and hydrated appearance of the skin.

Hair Care : Rosemary essential oil stimulates the hair follicles, by helping the cell division and dilating the blood vessels, thus enabling hair to grow stronger and longer. It is also beneficial for a dry and flaky scalp and may prevent premature baldness. Regular massage with this oil nourishes the scalp and helps remove dandruff. It can be mixed with tea tree oil and basil oil to be more effective.

Oral Care : Rosemary essential oil has astringent and antibacterial properties. This makes it effective for the treatment of dental conditions like bad breath, plaque build-up, cavities and gingivitis. Being a disinfectant, it is often used as a mouthwash for keeping your gums and teeth healthy.
